Thad follows Helena towards the library to wait for her to change in to her exploring get up. As he catches up he notices the inside of the library.
"Mr. Henshaw, do you know what happened in here. Helena asked for me to escort her to the basement. While i wait for her to change if you would allow me to look around, three pairs of eyes are better than two.

Lenny sees Thad as he's exiting the library.
"Looks to me like Ledona wanted to end it all and make a spectacle of it. She tore up the library throwing a tantrum, then hung herself. Too bad, she put on a good show. Nearly had me convinced."

Thad: You, unlike Lenny, are a believer in Ladona's power. You are sure that she was murdered and that someone (or something) is to blame. But when glance over the library, you cannot identify any clues or details.
If anyone would like to make a closer inspection of the library, they can do so. But only if you make a specific note of how you are searching, of something specific you are looking for, or of why you'd make a more detailed search.

Lenny will make his way downstairs to wherever his trunk is being stored and get his pistol and ammo. If he has time he will also change out of his clothes into some dungarees and a work shirt.
"You've got a good idea there ma'am, I think I'll switch out of these fancy duds myself"
He extends an elbow to her, and brandishes his walking stick like he's ready to brain anyone who assaults her.
"Escort you downstairs?"

Helena hesitates for a moment and then takes Lenny's arm. She wasn't sure if this would be a good adventure for a skeptic but there were safety in numbers.
As they approach the door Helena stops and addresses Lenny and Thad. "When we enter the basement it very important that we stick together. This house is very easy to get lost in, I'm sure the tunnels and rooms in the basement are even more confusing. We need to keep our eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary, no matter how insignificant it may seem" she made sure to look each of the mean directly in the eyes at the last part, men always seemed to miss the details.
"Are we ready?" She walked over and opened the basement door.

With some rough and tumble clothes on, his pistol in his pocket and his walking stick in hand,
"I really doubt there's a damn thing down there, I can promise you that we've seen about as much excitement as we're gonna see tonight."
Lenny leads the way down the stairs as "little green bag" plays during their slow motion dramatic descent

Henshaw gives you all an odd look as you start to head into the basement. He's about to say something, when a servant rushes over and speaks quietly to him. Henshaw rolls his eyes and walks off.
The stairs to the basement are wide, rough stone. Lenny, you can see a see a switch on the right as you move down. Flipping it on lights up a series of bare bulbs that are spaced at short intervals as you walk down the steps and into the main room of the basement. You are a large room made of cement block. It isn't furnished, but there are rugs on the floor to take away some of the chill. The room is surprisingly well-lit. The steps took you into the basement at the north side of this room. There is a closed door on each of the other walls of the room. The main room that you are in is full of furniture that was moved down to make room for the guests upstairs. Over on one side you can see boxes of food and drink that had been shipped in for the party. Most are open, and you can see some discarded packaging scattered around the floor. There is a clear path to each of the other doors. The ceiling is full of exposed pipes, heating ducts, and wiring. At first glance, nothing seems out of the ordinary. But given the events of the evening, you have a sense that something is not right.
Everyone make a Perception check and tell me what you are doing anything beyond simply entering the basement and looking around.

Lenny will keep an eye in any air ducts based on that sense he had from the heating vents that gave him the whillies earlier.
He'll also be on the lookout for anything small and valuable he might be able to slip into his pocket when nobody's looking, using the searching of the others to pull the ol' "hey look over there" trick

Helena is keeping an eye out for fuzzy things she thought she saw earlier, bugs, and anything she might see in the shadows. WHAT DOES SHE SEE TELL ME TELL ME TELL ME

Lenny: you quickly scan the room and notice a few of the open crates are holding silverware and serving utensils. You can make a sleight of hand check to pocket a few. If you want to roll a bluff first, you can try to create a distraction to give yourself a bonus on sleight of hand. As you are looking around, you don't see anything odd in the air ducts. Well, they look like normal air ducts to you, anyway. The entire basement is still giving you the willies, though. You do notice, however, that there is a light on behind the door to your right (the west door).
Helena: you see all the things. There is nothing lurking in the shadows. This room is fairly open and clear, except for furniture and boxes piled up. You feel safe enough to move forward and glance under a few tarps. There is nothing strange or out of the ordinary. You see drag marks on the floor leading to the door to your left (the east door). The floor is concrete, but there are tracks of dirt that seem to be from someone's boots. You also see light coming from under the door to your right ( the west door). Furthermore, you think that it is candle light or a flame, not a burning gas or electric light. The door ahead of you (the south door) is closed and dark. As you are looking around, you catch a flash of movement out of the corner of your eye high up near the ceiling. You snap your head around sharply, but can't see anything detailed. But you are almost completely certain that it was the fuzzy thing you saw earlier.

Thad makes his way in to the room last and really can't see anything until he makes it fully in to the room. He continues to keep his hand on the butt of his pistol as he scans the room.
*no matter the outcome, Thad will be on his toes for any sort of reflex based action*

Thad: Lenny and Helena are in front of you in the basement. You see Helena walk forward and poke around under a few piles of furniture. Her eyes dart around the room and it looks like she's picking up some details. Lenny is over by the boxes of supplies. You can see the light under the door to your right. The door to your left is standing open slightly and you see some dirt on the ground in front of it. As you look around, you get that sinking feeling that someone or something is watching you.

Lenny was hoping for something more like jewelry and leaves the boxes alone with some disappointment.
He'll head over to the illuminated door to his right and shove it open, his hand far away from his gun
He'll step into the room with his hands on his hips with a "what's all this then?!?" Air about him

Thad watches Lenny walk in to the half open door and follows behind him. He scans the room to see if he notices something that gave him the feeling of being watched.
Thad mentally recalls the last book he read where the hero of the story was in same situation . The villain he was chasing attacked him from the ceiling. He say out loud...."it's only a book"
But to be safe Thad still quickly scanned the ceiling
